The CCSD Board of Education work session on the Town of New Castle Form Based Code has been rescheduled to 3pm on Monday (10/19).  The meeting will be in-person at Horace Greeley High School.

6:00 pm     Board of Education Regular Meeting at Horace Greeley High School iLab - commencing with a Proposed Executive Session to discuss matters of health & safety, potential litigation, and to receive advice from counsel subject to Board approval.

Request for Discretionary Leave of Absence:

Resolution:
BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Education of the Chappaqua Central School District hereby amends the employment of Rosemary Matthews, effective September 1, 2020 through the maximum period of November 25, 2020, as the Interim Director of Special Education and 504, at a total compensation package of $900 per day effective September 1, 2020 through October 14, 2020 and $1,000 per day effective October 15, 2020 through November 25, 2020, subject to approval by the Commissioner of Education of a waiver under Section 211 of the New York State Retirement and Social Security Law (“RSSL”); and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Board President is authorized to execute an Agreement with Ms. Matthews as Interim Director of Special Education and 504, a copy of which agreement is incorporated by reference within the minutes of this meeting; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Board of Education ratifies the actions of the Superintendent of Schools in executing and submitting the Section 211 RSSL waiver request to the New York State Education Department for the period commencing September 1, 2020 through November 25, 2020.

Ms. Karen Smith, Director of Special Education and 504 Services, District-wide, to a probationary appointment in the tenure area of Director of Special Education and 504 Services, effective November 16, 2020 through November 15, 2024, as recommended by the Superintendent of Schools.

5.       Recommended Action:  Other
Use of the Consent Agenda permits the Board of Education to make more effective use of its time by adopting a single motion to cover those relatively routine matters, which are included. Any member of the Board who wishes to discuss individually a particular piece of business on the Consent Agenda may so indicate and that item will be considered and voted on separately, thus preserving the right of all Board members to be heard on any issue. It is recommended that the Board of Education approve the following Consent agenda as submitted by the Superintendent of Schools.

5.1    CSE Summaries (2020-21 School Year) reported to the Board on October 14, 2020.
    
5.2    BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Education authorizes the establishment of the Patrick Dougherty Memorial Scholarship in the amount of $4,600.47.  This scholarship has been made possible by a gift from the Class of 2019.  

5.3    BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Education approves a contract with Illuminate Education for Operoo Data Transfer Service to assist with Covid attestation, digitization of school district paper based forms, and organization of workflow for surveys and questionnaires during the 2020-21 school year, in the amount of $13,668.75, and authorizes the Board President to execute the agreement.

5.4    BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Education accepts the donation of a Zeiss Axiomat microscope, with an estimated value of $25,000.00 from the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Hospital for Special Surgery.  This donation was facilitated by Dr. Michael J. Klein and is for the Science Department.  

5.5    WHEREAS, the District owns the attached list of items which are no longer useful or necessary for school district purposes and of no value to the School District;
    
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board hereby declares such items to be surplus property and of no value to the School District and authorizes the disposal of such equipment in a prudent manner in accordance with law.

5.6    BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Education hereby authorizes the law firm of Shaw, Perelson, May & Lambert, LLP to provide legal representation to the School District in the matter of All Bright Electric v. Chappaqua Central School District, in accordance with the provisions of the 2020-21 retainer agreement with the law firm.

5.7    BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Education hereby authorizes the law firm of Shaw, Perelson, May & Lambert, LLP to provide legal representation to the School District in the matter of Framan Mechanical, Inc., v. Chappaqua Central School District, in accordance with the provisions of the 2020-21 retainer agreement with the law firm.

5.8    BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Education accepts a gift of $10,000.00 from an anonymous donor for the Horace Greeley High School Black Student Union.  The purpose of this gift is to support the mission and activity of the Black Student Union.

5.9    BE IT RESOLVED that the Board hereby authorizes its President to sign a consult agreement with the Chazen Companies, Inc., as presented to the Board at this meeting. A copy of said agreement shall be incorporated by reference within the minutes of this meeting.

5.10    BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Education accepts a gift of 15 6’ wooden picnic tables for Seven Bridges Middle School, in the amount of $2,722.21, from the Seven Bridges PTA.
