A message from the elementary school principals

September 24, 2020

Dear Elementary School Families,

We hope this letter finds you and your loved ones safe and healthy. We are writing to you today to clarify remote learning access for students based on our experiences during the last few weeks since we have returned to full capacity.

We wish to reiterate, as a follow up to Superintendent Ackerman’s letters dated 9/9/20 and 9/23/20, that there are two groups of students who can access remote learning:

Group 1: Students whose parents have notified the district that they have selected the full remote option. This notification must occur by 5pm each Thursday for the following week. These students will not be permitted to attend school onsite the following week and will remain fully remote Monday-Friday.

Group 2: Students who failed the student daily health screening by answering “yes” to one of the required questions. If you answer “Yes” our school nurse will contact you to discuss your answers and to determine if there are any next steps prior to your student being allowed building reentry.

Children who have symptoms consistent with COVID-19 will be permitted to return to our school buildings only if they have medical clearance from a doctor (which will include a negative COVID-19 test unless you have a definitive diagnosis such as an ear infection/strep throat).

Please know that we understand our students will be sick and unable to attend school for a variety of reasons. If your child is sick and their illness is not a symptom associated with COVID-19, you should call the attendance office and report the absence as an illness. In this case, students will not be permitted to access remote instruction and will be excused from school for the day.

We appreciate your continued support and cooperation as we partner together to create a safe, consistent, and engaging learning environment for all of our students.
