2020-2021 Lunch Program Update

Dear Chappaqua Central School District Families:

2020-2021 LUNCH PROGRAM UPDATE

Welcome back to the 2020-2021 school year! School Lunch has been adapting to our new school environment and our staff has been working hard to prepare a great lunch program this year. Whether students are learning in school or remotely, we are pleased to provide all students with multiple lunch choices daily. Currently, school lunch will be offered Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday. For now, there will be no lunch offered on Wednesdays due to the District-wide scheduled half-days.

We have just received notification from the New York State Education Department that all school lunches that qualify as a complete meal (choice of entrée, fruit, vegetable & milk) will be FREE for ALL children (18 years old and younger), regardless of their income status or whether they qualify for free, reduced or full paid meals.

This program is great news for our community and will be effective from September through December 31, 2020, or at such time that the federal allocation for this program has been exhausted. At that time, if the USDA does not extend the free meal provision, our school lunch price will revert to the current pricing.

Please be assured that our food service personnel have taken all the necessary precautions for the safe preparation of school lunches. Staff will wear masks, gloves and perform continuous sanitizing and disinfection of the food preparation areas throughout the day.

Below is a summary of each school’s lunch plan for the 2020-2021 year. In the unfortunate event that instruction transitions to an all-remote model, school lunches will still be available for pickup each day at the High School Cafeteria. More information on that will be forthcoming should the need arise.

ALL SCHOOLS: Remote Learning
ALL students who attend school remotely will be able to order lunch via the REMOTE LEARNERS ORDER FORM. Pickup will occur at the High School Cafeteria between 12:00pm and 1:00 PM.

ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS
Parents can order a daily lunch for their child using the online order form found HERE. THIS MEAL IS FREE. So that there is time to prepare the meal before the student’s designated lunchtime, we ask that all orders be placed as early as possible. Please note the daily cut-off time for ordering is 8:45am. Orders should be placed that day or even the night before. We ask that parents do not place advanced lunch orders in the event your child does not come to school, as we will have no way of knowing he/she is absent.

Once an order has been placed, it will be received and prepared by a member of the cafeteria staff. Each student's order will be packaged separately and delivered to their classroom. A la carte beverage and snack options will be available for purchase and will be deducted from your child’s lunch account.

MIDDLE SCHOOLS
Parents can order a daily breakfast or lunch for their child using the online order forms found HERE. THE LUNCH MEAL IS FREE.

In addition, each morning students will have time to use the link to choose their lunch for delivery to their designated lunch location. So that there is time to prepare the meal before the student’s designated lunchtime, we would ask that all orders be placed as early as possible, but before 8:25am. You can even order the night before, but we ask parents to not place advanced lunch orders in the event your child does not come to school, as we will have no way of knowing he/she is absent.

HORACE GREELEY HIGH SCHOOL
The current half-day schedule does not include a lunch period. However, as per the USDA, all High School students are eligible to pre-order a free Grab-'N'-Go lunch that can be picked up in the cafeteria before leaving school. All orders must be placed by 8:00am on the day of by using the HS GRAB-'N'-GO LUNCH ORDER FORM. We are also offering bottled water for any student to purchase using their school lunch account.
