A message from the Superintendent

Superintendent's Update #5

August 7, 2020

Dear Chappaqua Central School District Community,

I hope this email finds you well.  I am writing to share that this afternoon, Governor Cuomo announced that districts in New York may open their schools for instruction this fall. Our Governor also expanded school district expectations beyond the scope of the original guidelines we had previously shared.

Expectations shared with us in the Governor’s news conference today include:

  • posting a specific informational document on our website that addresses COVID-19 testing, contact tracing, and remote learning.
  • hosting three parent meetings, where there is an opportunity for a question and answer period.
  • holding a faculty meeting, where there is an opportunity for a question and answer period.

We will share with you the logistics for these required meetings early next week and will post the new informational document on our website by Friday, August 14, 2020.   We will continue to plan for the reopening of our schools, with the health and safety of our students, faculty, and school community driving our decisions

Thank you for your continued flexibility and understanding. I hope you have a lovely weekend with your family, and please, as we shared earlier, access our Greeley campus today if you need power or internet services.  We will have our facilities open for you until 8pm this evening.

Sincerely,

Christine Ackerman, PhD
Superintendent of Schools
