A message from the Superintendent

Superintendent's Update #4

August 6, 2020

Dear Chappaqua Central School District Community,

I hope this email finds you and your family healthy. I am writing to share our “Continuity of Learning Plan” for the 2020-21 academic year. In our plan, you will find an outline of our opening approach, which is directly aligned with the guidance provided by New York State, the New York State Education Department and the New York State Department of Health.

The District has planned for three different instructional approaches using one framework (in-person, hybrid and remote). While the in-person model is somewhat self-explanatory, we have outlined for you the distinctions between our hybrid and remote models for your consideration.

K-8th Grade, Greeley

As we continue to refine this plan, we ask our parents to please fill out our “Parent Reopening Survey.” This survey has been developed so you can share how your child will access instruction and your transportation preferences if our buildings are open. We understand that your preferences may change as you gather additional information or your family circumstances change. You are not bound to these decisions and we will provide opportunities for you to change your preferences prior to the start of the school year.

We know that these are complicated decisions for families to make. To support you in making this decision, we encourage you to review the following resources.

After reviewing these resources, please submit your response to our "Parent Reopening Survey" by August 12, 2020.

Our Continuity of Learning Plan is designed to be a living document, and adjustments will be made this summer as we receive additional guidance from New York State, and as information evolves and procedures are affirmed.  Regardless of what model we are following, all students will have access to our robust instruction as well as our social and emotional learning approach. As always, we appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work to develop flexible new learning models that will best meet the needs of our school community.

Sincerely,

Christine Ackerman, PhD
