Journeys into American Indian Territory
Thanks to the Grafflin PTA, students were immersed in traditional Native American culture during an in-house field trip on December 5th.
The program "Journeys into American Indian Territory" complemented what students had been learning about the Native Americans of the local area.
It featured Native American educator Maddi Cheers, who discussed the traditional culture, customs and government of the Eastern Woodland native people. Students also saw numerous Native American artifacts including a mini-longhouse, clothing, jewelry, tools, pottery, and musical instruments.
These hands-on activities and primary source materials provided a wonderful way for students to have fun while learning the history and lifestyle of Native Americans.
